Ndidi: Leicester midfielder hits major milestone achievement in England

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has reached an impressive milestone, playing his 200th game in the English Premier League for Leicester City.

The Nigerian international hit this landmark during Leicester’s thrilling 3-2 comeback win against Southampton last weekend.

Signed from Belgian side Racing Genk in January 2017, Ndidi made his Premier League debut against Chelsea on January 14, 2017.

Since then, he has established himself as a key player for the Foxes, renowned for his defensive solidity and tireless work rate in midfield.

Ndidi’s contributions have been vital in Leicester's successes, including their FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs.

He has also featured in European competitions such as the Champions League, Europa League, and the Europa Conference League.

Now Leicester City’s fifth all-time Premier League appearance maker, Ndidi stands behind club legends like Jamie Vardy (315), Kasper Schmeichel (276), Marc Albrighton (224), and Muzzy Izzet (222).

He also joins an elite group of Nigerian players to reach 200 Premier League appearances, ranking ninth among the likes of Shola Ameobi, Nwankwo Kanu, and Mikel Obi.

Ndidi scored his first Premier League goal for Leicester against Stoke City in 2017, and has since gone on to achieve numerous milestones, including his 50th appearance in April 2018, his 100th in November 2019, and his 150th in January 2021.

This season, he has already made eight appearances, contributing four assists.
