A trio of Nigerian youngsters are among the 100 nominees for the Golden Boy award. Interestingly, however, all three are foreign-born dual nationals who have featured for the countries of their birth at youth level, but remain eligible to represent the Super Eagles.
Fiorentina full-back Michael Kayode is in the shortlist. The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in Serie A, catching the eye of Italy boss Luciano Spalletti who considered him for a Euro 2024 call-up.
Kayode made 37 appearances in all competitions last season for La Viola, contributing one goal and four assists.

Atlético Madrid forward and transfer hotshot Samuel Omorodion also features. The 20-year-old has been a standout performer in La Liga, scoring nine goals in 35 appearances for Los Blanquiazules, and is a part of the Spain U-23 side that will contest the final of the 2024 Olympics men's football event.
His impressive form has attracted interest from Premier League giants Chelsea, who are seeking an alternative to €100m-rated Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
Completing the Nigerian contingent is Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.

The Denmark U-21 international has impressed at left-back, scoring two goals in 34 appearances for Lecce, and has also been linked with a host of top clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Golden Boy
The Golden Boy award, which is organised by Italian publication Tuttosport, recognises the most promising young player in European football, with past winners including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland.
The full 100-man shortlist will be whittled down to a final 20 before the winner is announced later in the year.
Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, Lagos-born forward George Ilenikhena, and established Super Eagles stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi are past nominees for the award.
