Former Nigeria international Sam Sodje has voiced his concerns about the potential partnership between Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen in the Super Eagles.
While praising Boniface's abilities, Sodje pointed out his inconsistency at international level and stressed the need for a tactical shift that could effectively utilise both strikers on the field.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward faced significant criticism from a section of Nigerian football supporters following his underwhelming performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda earlier this month.

However, upon his return from international duty, Boniface has been in exceptional form for his German club, netting three goals and providing one assist.
With the right system and a coach who adapts to the players’ strengths, Sodje believes the duo could form a formidable partnership for the Super Eagles.
How to maximise Boniface with the Super Eagles
Speaking to Brila FM, Sodje emphasised Victor Boniface's potential while raising concerns about his inconsistency at international level.
“Boniface is a good player, but he is just inconsistent (with the Super Eagles),” Sodje said.

“The question is can they play him and Osimhen together? Or will they have to play one and leave the other? That’s where the issue is, and they have to change the system.
“So whoever we get as coach needs to observe the players closely, know how he (Boniface) plays and sometimes adapt to his game.”
The 45-year-old former Luton Town defender made five appearances for Nigeria between 2005 and 2009.
