Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has been nominated for both LaLiga’s Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards for March, capping off a remarkable run of form with Valencia.
The towering forward, who joined Los Che on loan from Real Sociedad, has quickly become an integral figure in Rubén Baraja’s squad, delivering key goals and playing a crucial role in the club’s resurgence.
Since arriving at Mestalla, the 27-year-old has been in impressive form, scoring four goals in eight league appearances while showcasing his ability to influence games, link up play, and produce decisive moments.

To claim the Player of the Month award, Sadiq will have to fend off competition from some of LaLiga’s biggest stars, including Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Isco (Real Betis), Marcos Alonso (Celta Vigo), and Pedro Díaz (Rayo Vallecano).
With three goals in March, Sadiq has outscored most of his rivals for the award. Only Mbappé has matched his tally, while Isco and Alonso have netted twice each, and Díaz has just one.
Umar Sadiq making case for Super Eagles selection vs Rwanda
Sadiq’s nominated goal came in Valencia’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Osasuna, where he produced a sensational 87th-minute backheel equalizer.
Connecting with Sergi Canós’ low cross, he executed a perfectly timed flick that left Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera stranded.

The 2016 Olympic bronze medallist is competing for the Goal of the Month award against Andrei Ratiu and Diego Garcia, who also scored spectacular goals in March.
While Sadiq awaits the results of his La Liga nominations, his focus now turns to Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on Friday.
With the Super Eagles struggling in their campaign, his club form and confidence could be key to helping Nigeria get back on track in their bid for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
