Rasheedat Ajibade, the captain of the Super Falcons, has made a huge step in her career by being nominated for the prestigious Player of the Month (POTM) award for September in Spain's Liga Femenina, marking a historic moment in the league.
The talented Atlético Madrid forward is in the running alongside six other outstanding players: Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor, Caroline Weir from Real Madrid, María Llompart of Levante Badalona, Athletic Club Femenino’s Nerea Nevado, Karen Araya of Madrid CFF, and Elba Vergés from SD Eibar.
The award organisers announced that, for the first time in the history of Liga F, the nominees for POTM were being announced, highlighting that their outstanding performances during September had earned them a spot on the list.

Ajibade’s nomination is a well-deserved one considering her phenomenal start this season.
In just two appearances, the 24-year-old Super Falcons star has played a huge role as a key figure for Atlético Madrid, grabbing two goals and two assists.
Ajibade: Super Falcons star's outstanding performances in September
The attacking midfielder kicked off her campaign with an assist in the team’s 2-0 victory over Granada, though she was absent in the following match—a 2-1 win against Deportivo de La Coruña.
However, she bounced back spectacularly in Atlético's 4-0 win over Valencia, where she showed off excellent skills by scoring twice and setting up another goal.
Just 15 minutes in, she put in huge work by delivering a brilliant assist to Gabriela Garcia, who opened the scoring.
But Ajibade wasn't done yet, showing her prowess in front of goal with two stunning strikes: the first, a perfectly controlled finish just before halftime, and the second, a cheeky goal that capitalised on a defensive mishap in stoppage time.
Ajibade's recent achievements are a fitting continuation of her remarkable last season, where the Super Falcons star lit up the field with 10 goals and four assists over 30 matches, earning her the title of Atlético Madrid’s Player of the Year.
