Rising Super Falcons forward extends Liga stay

Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has extended her contract with Spanish side UD Tenerife, keeping her at the club until the end of the 2027/28 season.

The club announced the news via their official channels, confirming that the 22-year-old Nigerian striker, who also plays as a winger, has added three more years to her current deal.

Monday’s extension comes as a reward for her impressive contributions since joining the team.

UD Tenerife President Sergio Batista explained the club’s decision, praising Gift Monday's impact.

“Our aim is to build a strong future by extending the contracts of players we deem important, up until 2027. Without a doubt, Gift Monday is one of those players. She’s a young footballer with a bright future, strong performances, and has adapted well to life on the Island,” he said.

Monday, who joined UD Tenerife from Nigerian club FC Robo, is now in her third season at the Spanish club.

She has scored 11 goals in 49 Liga F matches, including 6 goals in the previous season.

This season, she has already netted two goals, further cementing her importance to the team.

Super Falcon star Monday wants to do more for UD Tenerife

Reflecting on her contract extension, Monday expressed her gratitude and ambitions for the future.

“I thank God for this opportunity,” she said.

“My dream is to help the team, contribute with positivity to achieve victories, and win more games.”

She also acknowledged the support she has received from the club and her teammates. “The love and support of the entire club, my teammates, and the environment have been incredible.

“I promise the fans to give my best and deliver the results they want.”
