Super Falcons newbie, Folashade Ijamilusi has credited captain Rasheedat Ajibade for her sensational hat-trick that powered Nigeria to a commanding 4-1 victory over the Green Ladies of Algeria in Lagos on Tuesday.
The Edo Queens forward’s treble, combined with a goal from Gift Monday, sealed Super Falcons’ second win over the Farid Benstiti led side, following a 2-0 victory in Ikenne last Saturday.
Ijamilusi set the tone in the 12th minute, finding the net after a scramble in Algeria’s penalty area. Barely seven minutes later, she doubled the lead, pouncing on a rebound after Blessing Ilivieda’s strike ricocheted off the crossbar. Algeria’s defense struggled to contain the Falcons’ relentless pressure, as Nigeria continued to push forward with near-constant attacks.

Despite missed chances, particularly from Gift Monday. Ijamilusi completed her hat-trick in the 86th minute, securing the massive win.

“I feel so good…for me scoring the three goals, and all thanks to God and also to the coaches for giving me the privilege and also to my wonderful teammates for their efforts. I’m so grateful to God,” she told 54FootballFX.
Ijamilusi highlighted Ajibade’s crucial guidance as a factor in her success. “Let me say from Rash [Ajibade], she told me they [the Algerian women] will want to go for her and that I should take it. Then I used the opportunity,” she explained.
