The nine-time African champions, whose historic best position in the rankings is 23rd, continue to hold the 36th position globally, solidifying their status as Africa’s highest-ranked team.

South Africa, whom the Super Falcons defeated in the final round of qualifiers for the Olympics, follows as the second-best ranked African team, positioned at 51st in the world, while Morocco occupies the third spot on the continent, sitting 56th globally.

With the upcoming 2024 Olympic Football Tournament in France, the Super Falcons are poised to improve their ranking through strong performances.

Strong Olympics performance to boost Super Falcons' ranking?

They are set to face Brazil in their Group C opener on July 25. Additionally, Nigeria will compete against Spain and Japan in their group matches, presenting a significant opportunity to climb the rankings despite having strong opponents in the group stage of the Olympics.

The current ranking cycle, which spans three months, took into account over 154 international football matches. World champions Spain continue to lead the global table, reflecting their dominance in the sport. Spain, France, England, Germany, and the United States make up the top five teams globally.

Their consistent ranking as Africa's top team underscores their prowess and potential to make a significant impact on the world stage.

Despite being in a tough group at the Olympics, the Super Falcons will hope to do well, as it could lead to an improved ranking in the next FIFA Women’s World Ranking, scheduled for publication on August 16, 2024.
