Montpellier teammate endorses Akor Adams’ Super Eagles push

Montpellier forward Arnaud Nordin has backed Super Eagles hopeful Akor Adams to light up the season following his two-goal performance in their 3-2 weekend victory over Auxerre

The French side's start to the season had been far from ideal, with just one goal from Adams in their first four Ligue 1 matches.

The pressure was mounting after winless outings, but Adams delivered when his team really needed him the most, turning an early deficit into a thrilling victory in front of their home fans.

Nordin backs ‘hard-working' Akor Adams after match-winning double

Before this game, Montpellier had struggled to find any form, drawing 1-1 with Strasbourg before being humbled by heavy defeats against PSG, Nantes, and Rennes.

With the weight of four winless matches on their shoulders, Adams' double sparked not only a comeback win, but a much-needed return to winning ways at Stade de la Mosson.

Post-match, Nordin showered praise on Adams’ relentless work rate, confidently predicting more goals to come for the Nigerian.

“Akor is someone who works a lot, a lot. We are also there to help him. Today, he scored two goals, and he will score two next week, and next week, and next week again,” Nordin said.

The brace marked Adams' first multiple-goal haul in a single match since scoring twice against Toulouse in October 2023.

Now with three goals in five games, the Nigerian forward looks set to spearhead Montpellier’s turnaround, and could be a late consideration for the Super Eagles squad ahead of the October international break. The three-time African champions play Libya in a double-header Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier next month.
