Bayer Leverkusen star Nathan Tella remains determined to fight his way back into the Super Eagles squad, insisting that only hard work and consistency can earn him a recall.
Tella has been a mainstay in Xabi Alonso's squad this season, but continues to be overlooked for Super Eagles call-ups by successive managers.
The 25-year-old winger received his last Nigeria call-up in March 2024 under Finidi George for international friendlies against Ghana and Mali, but remained an unused substitute in both matches.

Now, he hopes to impress new coach Eric Chelle and earn another chance to represent his country.
Tella eyes Super Eagles return, emphasises hard work and merit
Having been overlooked for recent Super Eagles call-ups, Nathan Tella remains determined to earn his place in the national team through hard work.
“This is not for me to say, he told Oma Sports TV. “I’ve never been a player that says ‘I should be called up’. On merit, I have to work hard and earn my chances. If the new coach [Eric Chelle] thinks I’ve done enough, then I’d happily accept the call. But, if not, that means I have to work harder.
“Yes, of course, it is an honour to play for your country. Many dream of playing with the best players in the country. Every opportunity I get to represent them [Super Eagles], I will give my 100%. So hopefully I can do the right things here and get the recognition at home,” he added.

Tella has featured in 25 matches for Die Werkself across all competitions so far this season, contributing three goals and three assists.
The Arsenal academy product made his Super Eagles debut in November 2023 during a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, playing the first half in the 1-1 draw under coach Jose Peseiro.
