Nigerian midfield prospect Christantus Uche put in a Man of the Match performance as Getafe pulled off a stunning 3-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Anoeta in La Liga on Sunday.
The former Nigeria U23 star was instrumental in the win, scoring once and providing an assist, taking his season tally to two goals and two assists.
It was Uche’s first goal since Matchday 1, when he struck against Athletic Bilbao at San Mamés in August 2024. Initially a central midfielder, the 21-year-old has thrived in an unconventional center-forward role this season.

José Bordalás once again deployed Uche in attack alongside Bertuğ Yıldırım in a 4-4-2 setup, a decision that continues to pay dividends. This marked his 16th league appearance as a forward.
Uche’s clinical and commanding display
The former Nigeria youth international opened the scoring in the 72nd minute with a precise right-footed finish from the center of the box, capitalizing on his team’s relentless pressure.
Thirteen minutes later, he turned provider, setting up Carles Pérez for Getafe’s third goal with a perfectly weighted pass, showcasing his creativity and vision.
Over 90 minutes, Uche made 56 touches, completing 17 of his 27 passes (63% accuracy). He created one big chance, delivered two key passes, and recorded an expected goals (xG) value of 0.45, alongside an expected assists (xA) figure of 0.34.
Defensively, he impressed as well, winning 13 of his 21 ground duels and 8 of 17 aerial battles. He also registered four tackles and was never dribbled past, further emphasizing his all-around contribution.
The win lifts Getafe to 14th in La Liga, with 23 points from 21 games, leaving them three points clear of the relegation zone.
