Nigerian midfield prospect Christantus Uche played a key role in Getafe’s 1-0 victory over Pontevedra CF in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 on Wednesday night, providing the crucial assist for the game’s only goal.
The 21-year-old’s contribution marked his second assist in as many games, following another in Getafe’s La Liga clash against Las Palmas last weekend.
The decisive moment came in the second minute when Uche delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Álvaro Rodríguez, who unleashed a left-footed strike from outside the box into the bottom-right corner.

He was active throughout the match, demonstrating his knack for creating opportunities and influencing play in key moments.
Stats highlight Uche’s efforts
Over his 89 minutes on the pitch, Uche attempted four shots but was unable to hit the target, missing narrowly on two occasions. Despite not scoring, his creativity shone through with two key passes, including the game-winning assist.
The Nigerian also engaged in eight ground duels, winning three, and dominated in aerial battles with five successful challenges out of seven.
While his passing accuracy was lower than expected, completing nine out of 15 passes (60%), The Nigeria U23 star's presence in midfield added dynamism to Getafe’s play. He managed 38 touches, was fouled twice, and drew defenders out of position with his movement.
His defensive contribution included one clearance and one blocked shot, further underlining his all-around effort.
