Victor Osimhen scores again for Galatasaray, yet a Super Eagles fan isn’t entirely impressed

Victor Osimhen continued his fine form in front of goal, netting once as Galatasaray secured a 2-0 victory over Samsunspor on Friday. The Nigerian striker, who has been unstoppable since his move to Turkey, now has 21 league goals this season, cementing his place at the top of the Süper Lig scoring chart.

The 26-year-old made a brilliant run between two defenders to meet a perfectly timed pass from Yunus Akgün before slotting calmly past goalkeeper Okan Kocuk.

The win comes at a crucial time for Galatasaray, who were looking to respond after last week’s 2-1 defeat to Besiktas at the Tupras Stadium.

Online buzz after goal no. 21 for Osimhen

Osimhen’s performance quickly sparked debate online, with fans comparing him to other forwards linked to Premier League clubs. A viral post earlier in the week controversially put him side-by-side with England youngster Liam Delap, prompting a wave of reactions.

Many fans slammed the comparison as disrespectful, insisting the 2023 CAF Men’s Footballer of the Year belongs at the very top of European football.

Arsenal and Manchester United fans, in particular, used the opportunity to champion the striker as a dream signing. With summer transfer speculation heating up, his name remains firmly on the radar of elite clubs.

While the praise flowed, a few fans pointed out Osimhen’s on-pitch temperament. After one slick dribble and pass ended in a missed chance, the forward visibly showed his frustration.

One user urged him to keep a cooler head during games, especially as he continues to draw attention on and off the pitch.

With seven games left in the season, Osimhen looks poised to finish strong, and possibly spark a high-profile move this summer.
