Former Chelsea star and Nigeria international Celestine Babayaro has urged the club to sign both Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, asserting that the Super Eagles duo would immediately elevate the Blues into serious contenders.
With both players among Europe’s top forwards and Chelsea boasting a rich history of success with African talents, Babayaro, who spent eight years at Chelsea from 1997 to 2005, believes their arrival could significantly strengthen the squad and reshape the club’s ambitions.
In the current campaign, Osimhen has scored 23 goals and provided five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions for Napoli, while Lookman has scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 31 appearances for Atalanta.

Babayaro backs Osimhen & Lookman to elevate Chelsea
Speaking to Africafoot in a recent interview, Babayaro backed Osimhen and Lookman to take the Blues to the next level, highlighting their quality and Chelsea’s strong history with African players.
“Lookman and Osimhen would fit in perfectly at Chelsea. It’s obvious they would have an immediate impact there if signed. Look, we’re talking about two of the best strikers in Europe right now. African players have always excelled at Chelsea, and these two would be no different,” he said.

The Nigeria legend also suggested that Chelsea could include Nicolas Jackson in a swap deal to land one of the Super Eagles stars, adding, “They would form the core of the club and make the team instant contenders. They’re also a good buy because they each have one year left on their contracts.
“In one of the deals, probably Osimhen’s, they could trade Jackson (Nicolas), which I think would be a smart move.”
