Victor Osimhen transfer: Premier League elite set to miss out as likeliest destination comes to light

Victor Osimhen may be one of the most lethal forwards in world football right now, but Manchester United are not planning a move for the Nigerian international.

Instead, the club’s recruitment team is exploring other avenues, with Liam Delap emerging as the striker most likely to arrive at Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils’ season has spiralled, with inconsistent performances, a chronic lack of goals, and Europa League glory now the only possible route back to European competition.

In attack, neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee have shown the kind of ruthless edge needed to lead the line for a club of United’s stature. But while the need for firepower is urgent, Osimhen is not part of the solution.

Delap, younger and with a different development curve, is viewed as a more realistic option. There is also optimism around bringing in Matheus Cunha, with the Brazilian expected to operate as a supporting No.10. Osimhen’s profile, elite, but expensive and unaligned with current squad planning has placed him outside United’s current strategy.

Saudi Pro League remains Victor Osimhen’s first choice

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has scored 21 goals in 25 appearances in the Turkish Süper Lig. His output has sparked interest from clubs across Europe, but the most serious conversations are taking place in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Qadsiah, and NEOM SC have all tabled internal discussions about a possible move.

The 26-year-old came close to joining Al-Ahli last summer, but that door has now closed following the signing of Ivan Toney. With Roberto Firmino set to leave, Al-Ahli have shifted focus to other positions.

Still, Osimhen is open to the switch. As ever, the final call will rest with central Saudi decision-makers tasked with shaping the league’s future direction.
