Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen had a night to forget as Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe played out a goalless draw in Monday’s highly anticipated Turkish Süper Lig clash at the Rams Park in Istanbul.

The match, expected to be a thrilling top-of-the-table battle, failed to deliver.

Both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances, and the game lacked rhythm.

There was a lot of talk on social media platforms, especially X (formerly known as Twitter) about who will officiate the game as Slovenian referee, Slavko Vincic, became the first foreign official to oversee a Turkish league match.

No goal for Osimhen as Intercontinental derby ends in goalless draw

Victor Osimhen could not add to his season's tally but was involved in some of the controversial moments of the game.

The Nigerian forward found himself in the spotlight during another tense moment in the game.

After going down inside the box following a push, he appealed for a penalty, but Vincic waved play on.

Frustrated, Osimhen turned toward the Fenerbahçe bench and made a “silence” gesture.

The action appeared to be directed at José Mourinho, triggering a confrontation between both benches.

The incident resulted in yellow cards for Mourinho and Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk.

Fans took to social media to express their disappointment with the match, with many calling it underwhelming.

Osimhen, also joined his club to post on their social media complaining about Mourinho's rant by calling players on the Galatasaray bench ‘monkeys' in a rant after the game.

Despite the stalemate, Galatasaray remains in control of the title race.

For Osimhen, the focus will be on bouncing back as the season enters a crucial stage with Galatasaray's six point gap at the top of the table still intact.
