Wilfred Ndidi is a Nigeria international who plays for Premier League side Leicester City and the Nigeria national team as a defensive midfielder.

Born in Lagos,  Ndidi began his football journey at Ekosodin Stars FC, an amateur club, before honing his skills at Nath Boys Academy.

It was there that his talent caught the attention of European scouts, securing him a €180,000 transfer to Belgian giants Genk in January 2015, for whom he stood out with solid midfield displays that combined fantastic athleticism and an innate ability to read the game.

In 2017, reigning Premier League champions Leicester City secured his signature for a reported fee of £17 million. He has since remained a key figure for the Foxes.

He played a crucial role in the club’s 2021 FA Cup triumph, helping them secure their first-ever title in the competition. Despite Leicester’s relegation in 2023, he remained influential, helping the team push for a return to the Premier League.

Now capped over 60 times by his country, Ndidi represented Nigeria at Under-17s and Under-20s level before his first senior call-up in October 2015, going on to represent the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2019, 2021, 2022 and incarnations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

At 28, Ndidi’s strengths lie in his ball-winning ability, stamina, and tactical awareness. However, he has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, affecting his consistency. While defensively sound, his attacking contributions, particularly goal-scoring and passing range, could be improved.
