The loss also saw Leicester equal an unwanted record, becoming the first team since Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Manchester United to go nine straight home games without scoring a single goal.

Leicester went into the game needing at least a point to stay alive in the relegation battle. But they struggled once again, especially in the final third.

Liverpool dominated large spells of the game, but both sides failed to find the breakthrough in the first half.

Ndidi picked up a yellow card in the 70th minute for a rash tackle, and just eight minutes later, Trent Alexander-Arnold struck the winner for Liverpool.

The result keeps Leicester in 19th place on the Premier League table with 18 points from 33 matches, with relegation all but confirmed.
