The Glamour Boys have responded regarding the club legend’s position
Kaizer Chiefs have given a hint that they intend to give Itumeleng Khune a role at the club following the expiry of his contract.
Khune, the club’s longest serving player, saw his deal come to an end on June 30 but while some of his team-mates in a similar position were let go, his future has been pending.
Now, Chiefs Commercial Director Jessica Motaung has given indication that they do not plan to part ways with the 37-year-old goalkeeper after 25 years of service to the Soweto giants.
‘He’s part of the family, 25 years, I mean he’s like a little brother’
“In terms of Khune, the club will make an announcement, we certainly were in discussions with Khune, he’s part of the family, 25 years, I mean he’s like a little brother to me you know,” Motaung said as per iDiski Times.
“We’re having discussions around what the opportunities are with him and we look forward to announcing those in the future.”

Khune has been at the club since he was 12 and won as many trophies, including three PSL titles.
He has, however, fallen down the pecking order in recent years with Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Peterson preferred ahead of him.
Khune has insisted he does not intend to retire from football
The former Bafana Bafana captain has insisted he does not intend to retire from football and it will be interesting to see which role he is given at the club.
There have been reports that Chiefs intend to hand Khune a role either on the coaching staff or in the commercial department to leverage on his popularity and status to push the club’s brand.
