The Amakhosi tactician has shed light on the kind of players he wants at Naturena
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is keen to ensure that only players of the highest quality join the Soweto giants.
Chiefs announced the arrival of two new players on Tuesday with former midfielder Njabulo Blom rejoining the club from MLS side St Louis FC while left-back Bradley Cross has been signed from Golden Arrows.
Nabi says Amakhosi would have had more than the seven players who have since joined but he has rejected some that were offered to the club because they do not meet his standards.
Nasreddine Nabi ready to wait for the right player
“Every coach needs the best players,” Nabi said on Tuesday. “It is difficult because the level of players I want to come to Kaizer Chiefs must be high level. I don’t accept a middle player and because of that, I’m ready to take time.”
The Tunisia tactician then revealed how he turned down a highly-rated striker that was offered to the club because he does not meet the level of what he wants at Chiefs.
“I refused a striker who is playing in Portugal,” Nabi added. “I refused because he does not have the level of Kaizer Chiefs. Because of that, I will take time and if we don’t get the right one, I will not take anyone.”

Who is the striker that Kaizer Chiefs rejected?
The striker in question is believed to be Togolese forward Yawo Agbagno who was offered to Chiefs by prominent agent Mike Makaab but the club turned him down.
Chiefs have moved away from the scattergun approach to transfers of the past since Nabi came in, taking their time to find the right targets before bringing them on board.
Besides Blom and Cross, Chiefs have also signed defenders Miguel Inacio, Bongani Sam and Rushwin Dortley, goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari and attacker Gaston Sirino
The Glamour Boys are still in the market for a striker with Nabi reported to be looking for a forward who is comfortable operating in the box.
