AmaZulu FC are actively pursuing the acquisition of the Royal AM winger, a player that Kaizer Chiefs were unable to secure.
Following a disappointing performance last season, where they finished in 11th place in the Betway Premiership, Usuthu are still enhancing their squad for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
The club has already made several signings, including Luvuyo Phewa (on loan), Etiosa Ighodaro (on loan), Kwanda Mngonyama, Boniface Haba, and Senzo Ndlovu.
The Sandile Zungu-owned club is reportedly keen on acquiring Mfundo Thikazi, who was previously on the radar of Amakhosi.
AMAZULU INTERESTED IN FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS TARGET
“AmaZulu have shown interest in signing Royal AM midfielder Mfundo Thikazi,” the source told Soccer Laduma.
“Actually Kaizer Chiefs were the first ones to show interest and then even inquired about the player from last season but nothing came up after that.
“Just before the end of last season, as well, they made a follow-up but again nothing tangible came out of that.

“Now, AmaZulu have identified Thikazi as the one who could help the team this coming season and they are in pursuit of him.”
The Durban-based could find it difficult to get the player with Royal AM still under the transfer ban and having already lost players like Menzi Masuku and Ruzaigh Gamildien.
WHY AMAZULU COULD FIND IT DIFFICULT TO GET THE PLAYER?
“Menzi Masuku already left at he end of his contract to join Golden Arrows and now AmaZulu are interested in Thikazi. He may go as well,” the source added.
“But the problem is that Royal AM can't register players from other teams due to the FIFA ban and they will want to keep as much players as they can and Thikazi is one of them.
“But there are other reasons which could force the player to leave like a good personal offer from Usuthu.”
