Kaizer Chiefs will aim to extend their winning streak this midweek as they face AmaZulu FC in their second encounter of the Betway Premiership season.
On the other hand, Usuthu are eager to recover from a disappointing start to the season.
Both teams had poor runs last season and are determined to improve this campaign, having made some reinforcements to strengthen their squads.
Head-to-head
Historically, Amakhosi have had the upper hand in their clashes with Usuthu; however, they have encountered some difficulties in recent seasons.
The two teams have met 44 times in the PSL era which started in 1996/97 and Amakhosi hold a sway having won 26 matches, with AmaZulu claiming 5 victories, while 13 clashes were drawn.
AmaZulu has secured victory in two of the last five encounters, while Chiefs have won once, and two matches have ended in draws.
The last time the Soweto giants suffered a defeat at Moses Mabhida Stadium against AmaZulu was in 2023, when Usuthu triumphed with a score of 4-0.

Amakhosi also played a couple of friendly matches prior to the commencement of the season. They lost 4-1 to Young Africans in the Toyota Cup friendly in Bloemfontein.
Meanwhile, Usuthu started their campaign with a 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Polokwane City FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin – ‘I know Nabi well’
Martin revealed he and Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi know each other well having been rivals in the Tanzanian Premier League when the Spanish coach was at Simba SC while the Tunisian tactician was spearheading Young Africans.
“I know Nasreddine for a long time ago, we played against each other,” said Martin.
“I know how difficult it is to beat him, I’m sure that he’s bringing fresh air to Kaizer Chiefs.
“We already know what works and what does not work. So, I think it’s gonna be interesting battle but I think we’re not important, the ones who are important are the ones with talent on the pitch who are going to control the emotions.
“I’m sure 100% that our guys are gonna be better than the guys. I think we are already showed them what we are capable of, we already beat them this season.”
