The much-maligned tactician is reportedly being considered as Nasreddine Nabi’s assistant
Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane is being linked with a return to the club’s technical bench, one year since his sacking as Amakhosi head coach.
Zwane led Chiefs in the 2022-23 season but despite having been handed a three-year deal, he was relieved of his duties after one season, owing to poor results.
Chiefs, however, retained the club legend, who now works as the senior academy coach, but there are reports that he could be roped in as one of Nasreddine Nabi’s assistants following the departure of Fernando Da Cruz.

Amakhosi looking for a new assistant coach
Da Cruz, who had linked up with Nabi at Chiefs to work as his assistant, returned to Morocco to take up a role at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and it is believed Chiefs are keen to fill the vacancy with a local tactician with Zwane highly tipped.
Reports claim Nabi has given his blessings to the appointment of Zwane, who will also act as a link between the senior and junior teams given his connections and understanding of both.
Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior confirmed Zwane’s role last month, saying he is focused on the progress of the academy and scouting department.
What is Arthur Zwane’s current role?
“Coach Arthur's title is senior academy coach, his task is very important. He works with our DDC, under19, under17, under15 and under13 to be able to provide blanket playing philosophy,” he told SABC.
“So, his role and time is spent with each of the groups to make sure that we have uniformity and we're able to continue our progression and pathways for the youth players.”
Zwane was among Chiefs legends who took on KZN legends in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup on Saturday, securing a 1-0 win, thanks to Thuso Phala’s strike.
