Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez has set a big target for himself in a bid to repay the club after being handed a two-year contract extension.
Du Preez recently signed his new deal, extending his stay at Chiefs until 2026, and he is keen to score more goals as a way of showing his commitment and gratitude to the club for trusting in him.
“As a player, you play for better contracts and all that, but that is not where my focus is,” Du Preez told Soccer Laduma.
New contract motivating Du Preez

“But that is motivating. It is good to know that the team believed in you. I am happy that the club renewed for two years so I am pleased to be here for another two years.
“For those two years, what I want to achieve is more. I want to score more goals, I want to reach 20 plus goals and that is my aim for the two years that I am going to be here.”
Du Preez joined Chiefs from Stellenbosch in July 2022, signing a three-year contract that was due to expire at the end of this season but the club moved with speed to extend his stay.
How has the striker performed at Chiefs?

Chiefs see the striker as an important member of coach Nasreddine Nabi’s team as he brings something different to the attack, allowing them to play a high-pressing game when he is in the side.
Du Preez’s stay at Chiefs has, however, been blighted by injuries which have limited his game time and he just returned last week after weeks out, having also delayed his start to the season with another setback.
The 27-year-old has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 75 games for Chiefs with four of them coming from the 16 matches he has played this season.
