South Africa players arrived in the North-East African country on Sunday

Bafana Bafana players are acclimatising to their new surroundings after landing in South Sudan ahead of Tuesday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

South Africa will take on South Sudan looking to bounce back from their disappointing 2-2 draw with Uganda on Friday which saw coach Hugo Broos’ plan fall apart.

Bafana Bafana players arrived in Juba early on Sunday with South Africa’s ambassador to Sudan, Mahlodi Sam Muofhe, rolling out the red carpet for them.

“South Africa and South Sudan have got a very strong relationship and our wish is that we watch a very good match on Tuesday free of hard tackles, understanding that more than just playing football, the two countries are also cementing their relationship,” said Muofhe.

Broos’ men must improve against their hosts if they have to secure maximum points or risk putting themselves under immense pressure early in their qualification journey.

The tactician had targeted maximum points from their opening two games of Group K but nearly suffered an embarrassing home loss to Uganda before substitute Thalente Mbatha ensured a share of the spoils late on.

Will Veli Mothwa continue in goal for South Africa?

South Sudan will, however, draw inspiration from Uganda who took advantage of some sloppy display from South Africa to punish them.

Broos has some selection dilemma heading into the match with the main focus being the goalkeeping situation after Veli Mothwa’s shaky performance against Uganda.
