Desiree Ellis’ side have lined up a meeting with a top European side
Banyana Banyana are set to play a friendly match against Denmark as they keep in shape for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
South Africa have lined up a number of high-profile friendlies this year and the match against Denmark will be the first of them, being played on October 25.
Like Banyana Banyana, Denmark were also at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, when they exited the tournament at the Round of 16 and will provide a major test for Desiree Ellis’ side.

Who else is South Africa playing this year?
South Africa will then face England on October 29 after the meeting with Denmark, the match set to be played at Building Society Arena, the home of Coventry City.
The reigning European champions, who are ranked second in the world, have faced South Africa twice before and won on both occasions, making it a tough test for the African champions.
Banyana Banyana then have a double header against Jamaica on November 24 and December 2.

Banyana Banyana are keen to defend WAFCON title
South Africa are seeking to defend their African crown and will hope that the high-profile friendly matches will leave them in good shape to achieve that.
The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations was set to be played in June this year but was postponed to 2025 although the dates and host nation have not been announced.
South Africa is among countries that have submitted a bid to host the tournament.
