Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien has shared his dream to play for a big club amid transfer rumours linking him with Kaizer Chiefs.
Basadien has been on the radar of Amakhosi for some time, with Nasreddine Nabi's side in search of a first-choice left-back following Sfiso Hlanti's departure at the end of last season.
However, the Bafana Bafana defender reportedly penned a new long-term contract with the Cape Winelands side last year, indicating Stellenbosch would expect a transfer fee if he were to leave.
Asked where he will be next season, Basadien responded, “I don’t know, I’m not sure.”
BASADIEN ON STAYING GROUNDED DESPITE BEING SOUGHT-AFTER
“I think for me that’s one of my strong points [ability to remain grounded] because my career hasn’t been easy,” he said.
“I’ve learnt it in the hard time and now being in the highest [level], so I’ve experienced a lot of lows.

“For me, it was to remain grounded and know that my contract is here at Stellenbosch, I’m playing for Stellenbosch and just focus on what I can control. That was the main thing.”
BASADIEN – ‘THAT WILL ALWAYS BE A DREAM’
Basadien confessed that seeing former teammates depart for bigger clubs has ignited his dream of making a similar move at some point in his career.
“Definitely, as a player, for your career, that will always be a dream,” he added.
“For me personally, I’d like to achieve that as well. But for now my the main focus is to help Stellenbosch get to the [CAF Confederation Cup] final and hopefully win the trophy and play until the end of the season.”
