Bvuma’s opinion on whether SA should ban signing of foreign ‘keepers

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has shared his two cents on whether South Africa should ban the signing of foreign ‘keepers.

Bvuma's comments were prompted by a suggestion from Ricardo Goss, the SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.

Goss advocates for restrictions on foreign goalkeepers to enhance opportunities for local talent, asserting that this would elevate the overall quality of goalkeeping in the nation.

In contrast, Bvuma believes that if foreign goalkeepers possess the enough skills to ply their trade in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), they should be afforded the chance to play.

WHAT BVUMA THINKS ABOUT BANNING SIGNING OF FOREIGN GOALKEEPERS IN SA

“I don’t think we must go the Egyptian or is it the North African route? For me, if the goalkeeper is good enough let him come, let him be a first choice,” said Bvuma.

“Like, I will make an example, your Denis Onyango, I think I saw one interview of Ricardo [Goss]. He [Denis Onyango] is solid, he has been solid for the teams that he played for.

“For me, I don’t have a problem with foreign goalkeepers coming and playing. As long as when they’re playing they’re doing well.”

Chiefs academy graduate, Bvuma stepped up in the CUFA Cup against Marumo Gallants this past Sunday when first-choice keeper Fiacre Ntwari was away on international duty with his country Rwanda.

He saved two penalties to secure Amakhosi's victory in the newly formed tournament
