South African youngster Shandre Campbell finally made his senior team debut last weekend and Club Brugge played to a 2-2 draw with Sint Truiden at the Daio Wasabi Stayden Stadium.
The hosts started the game well and took a deserved lead in the 10th minute courtesy of Didier Lamkel Ze who connected Adriano Bertaccini's pass. It got worse for Campbell's team 10 minutes later when Bilal Brahimi set up Loic Lapoussin for a clever finish.
The visitors then pulled one back when Hans Vanaken found the back of the net with 18 minutes to go to set up a tense finale.
Cambell was then introduced with three minutes to go, hoping to help his team get something from the game. It eventually ended 2-2 thanks to Christos Tzolis who finished off Brandon Mechele's assist.
Time for Broos to consider Campbell?
Since moving to Europe, the 19-year-old former SuperSport United attacker has been a hit for Club Brugge's junior outfit Club NXT. In the ongoing campaign, he has scored six goals and provided an assist.
It is a massive start to the teenager who scored five goals and created six for the Swanky Boys in the previous campaign in Mzansi. It is interesting to see whether he will be involved in Club Bugge's next assignment.

Campbell's exploits are good news to Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos as his team prepares for crucial games. They will resume their 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in March before playing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in December and January.
