Hugo Broos has opted for an experienced line-up against the Cranes in the 2025 AFCON qualifier

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has gone with an experienced line-up for his side’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Uganda on Friday.

The notable inclusion in the starting XI is AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa who has been trusted between the sticks in the absence of captain Ronwen Williams.

In defence, Broos has resisted the temptation to tinker much with his squad with Khuliso Mudau starting at right-back while his Mamelodi Sundowns team-mate Aubrey Modiba is at left-back.

How will the new Kaizer Chiefs man perform?

In central defence, Romania-based Siyabonga Ngezana will start alongside Kaizer Chiefs new man Rushwin Dortley, who has got the nod ahead of Grant Kekana.

Central midfield has the usual suspects with Teboho Mokoena partnering Sphephelo Sithole yet again while captain of the day Themba Zwane will play just ahead of them in the No.10 role.

Lyle Foster is leading the goal hunt for Bafana

Burley forward Lyle Foster is the man leading the line for South Africa and he is flanked by Polokwane City attacker Oswin Appollis on the left wing while Elias Mokwana of Esperance de Tunis is on the right.

South Africa are looking to start their AFCON qualifying campaign with maximum points with the match taking place at Orlando Stadium.
