Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly identified a Motsepe Foundation Championship player to add onto their attack next season.
Kruger United striker Thapelo Matlhoko is believed to have been scouted by Amakhosi and the club is convinced that he can be a great addition to coach Nasreddine Nabi’s squad.
Chiefs are in the market for a new but younger striker to beef up the squad and view the 22-year-old, who has scored four goals in 20 matches, as a good fit for what coach Nabi is looking for.
“He is one of the strikers they are looking at. They are believed to have enquired about him and they would like to have him as one of their players next season,” a source told KickOff.
Experienced striker also on Chiefs’ radar

“The club is still looking at the possibility of signing different strikers to add to the team and Thapelo (Matlhoko) is one of them.”
The same source says Chiefs are also looking for an experienced striker to blend with the younger ones at the club as Nabi looks to build a squad that can challenge for titles.
“Yes, there are other experienced players that the club is looking at in the striking department but they are also looking at the young strikers who can play and learn from the senior experienced strikers at the same time. That's why they are targeting strikers like Fiston Mayele as well as Thapelo Matlohoko,” the source further said.
Chiefs have Ranga Chivaviro, Tashreeq Morris, Ashley Du Preez and youngster Wandile Duba as their options in the striking department but Nabi does not feel that is enough.
