Kaizer Chiefs fell out of top eight in the Betway Premiership standings after a home 2-1 defeat at the hands of the lowly Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With this result, they extended their winless streak to six matches.

Amakhosi scored first with Glody Lilepo rattling the back of the net in the first half to put his side ahead before Matome Mathiane equalised ahead of the break.

At the start of the second half, Nasreddine Nabi made changes, bringing on Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo for Thabo Cele and Dillan Solomons, with Yusuf Maart moving to right-back.

Chiefs should have gone ahead again in the 62nd minute; Shabalala set up Wandile Duba, who hit the post when one-on-one with Arubi. This miss proved costly. Eight minutes later, Gallants took the lead when Msendami's free-kick curled into the far corner, untouched in the box.
