‘Chiefs move will financially benefit Morris’ – Hunt confirms Tashreeq’s blow, welcomes Saile

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has conceded losing striker Tashreeq Morris to Kaizer Chiefs is a blow.

The 30-year-old played 10 games for the Swanky Boys, scoring two goals in the process. Amakhosi, who have been struggling to take their chances, believe the towering striker is what they are missing.

The former Cape Town City player missed SuperSport's 1-0 against Sekhukhune United on Friday owing to suspension. Early next week, he will be subjected to formalities before being confirmed at the Glamour Boys.

However, Hunt feels he has lost an important player, despite conceding his move will be beneficial.

Out goes Morris, in comes Saile

The former Chiefs coach has further confirmed Christian Saile Basomboli is set to join the Swanky Boys. The versatile attacker joined Amakhosi two seasons ago but in the ongoing campaign, he has struggled for game time.

“Yeah, he [Morris] just came in two months ago. Well, for us, you know, obviously it’s a blow, but you know, it’s a great opportunity for him,” the tactician opened up to the media.

“And you know, I mean, how many players [have left us]? Financially [the move] will help him, so it is a no-brainer for the boy, so what can I do?”

Hunt further confirmed Saile's arrival, “Yes, he is coming in.”

It is interesting to see how Morris will fit into coach Nasreddine Nabi's style in the coming days, Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley du Preez are expected to stage stiff competition for the forward.

Whether Chiefs will add another striker in the ongoing transfer window or not is a wait and see.
