The junior teams are preparing for the continental qualifiers scheduled for the next couple of weeks.
The National U20 and U17 teams continued their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with wins over neighbours Lesotho on Friday, August 16.
Amajita who were being coached by Raymond Mdaka and assisted by former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana midfielder Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane, came into the match hoping for a positive outcome despite the changes in the technical team.
The technical bench also had assistant coach Karabo Mogudi, video analyst Thabo Mnyamane, and goalkeeper coach Morne Crumpton.
Amajita 3-1 Lesotho
The South Africa U20 side started the game on a high note and within 27 minutes, Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi – who has been making headlines for his recent showboating in his team's 4-0 loss against Yanga SC, finding the back of the net.
The second goal came seven minutes later courtesy of Mamelodi Sundowns’ youngster Kutlwano Lethlaku, before the deficit was halved by Paseka Maile just five minutes to the break.
However, Shakeel April scored in the stoppages to ensure Amajita secured a morale-boosting win ahead of the second meeting in two-days time.
Amajimbos 4-0 Lesotho
In another game played on the same day, the U17 team showed they are ready for the Cosafa Cup with a 4-0 scoreline at the UJ Soweto Campus.
Amajimbos scored their first goal in the 10th minute through right-back Sive Pama who showed great composure to give his team a deserved lead.
In the 22nd minute, the advantage was doubled thanks to Selwyn Stevens, before Tebogo Mlangeni made it 3-0 four minutes later. The fourth strike by Anovuyo Mgoqi in the 62nd minute sealed the deal.
The second meeting is scheduled for Sunday.
