Chiefs Transfer News: Nabi set to miss out on crucial addition

Kaizer Chiefs will now have to look elsewhere for a combative midfielder after missing out on their reported target Luke Le Roux.

The 24-year-old had a good spell with IFK Varnamo in the six months he spent with them. He made 16 appearances that caught the attention of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos and played in the most recent international break.

Kaizer Chiefs were keen on getting the South Africa midfielder in the ongoing transfer window, but it seems that is not the case.

The Soweto giants are not the only ones with an eye for fine players. Swedish heavyweights Hammarby IF are interested in the services of Luke Le Roux. His agent Matthew Moore has confirmed the former SuperSport United midfielder has a higher chance of staying in Europe as opposed to returning to Mzansi.

Le Roux has proven his worth

“Yes, I can confirm that Hammarby have made an approach to Varnamo about Luke Le Roux,” Moore told iDiski Times.

“This move would allow Luke to play at the highest possible level leading up to the 2026 World Cup, which he hopes to be a part of.

“The player has been an outstanding professional during his time at Varnamo. The club got him on a really good deal in the summer and will make a good profit. They have more than enough time to find a replacement, so we fully expect them to not stand in the way.”

Chiefs will have to look elsewhere for a new midfielder to strengthen the department. The club is already in the market for a striker to sharpen the attack.
