Chiefs Transfers: Kaizer Motaung Jr fumes at constant speculation

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has expressed his frustrations at the constant transfer speculation that sees many players linked to the club.

Like Manchester United in the Premier League, Chiefs have paid the price for their big brand down the years with almost every player linked to the Glamour Boys, while selling clubs are believed to up the price whenever Amakhosi makes their interest concrete.

However, Motaung Jr says while he cannot control the constant speculation, it has affected the club in a number of ways, including destabilising the squad.

Why is Kaizer Jr unhappy?

“The challenge and the unfortunate part when it comes to the transfer window and us as Chiefs is that irrespective of what we say, we are always linked with every single player and all of our players are always said to be likely to leave,” Motaung told iDiski Times.

“To be honest, most of the time it is very far from the truth, but it is a narrative that we know we can’t really control, although those elements cause instability.”

The Chiefs boss says the speculation is the reason the club opts not to comment on the profiles of players they are chasing like now, when they have been linked with Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis.

“We just need to be very responsible from our side and try to the best of our abilities to communicate with our supporters through our branches and other mediums so that they understand where we are going, so they can be with us on the journey,” he added.

“It is a difficult time of speculation, but we will make the official announcements and communicate at the appropriate time.”

Chiefs are believed to be close to unveiling striker Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United while Congolese winger Glody Makabi Lilepo has reportedly also signed from French side Valenciennes.
