South Africa international Siyabonga Ngezana believes the players plying trade in the Premier Soccer League should consider Romania's Liga 1.

The 27-year-old Kaizer Chiefs graduate has been playing for FCSB for the last two seasons and is currently among the key players. In his debut season, he won Liga 1's crown, which was FCSB's first in nine years.

Ngezana then played a crucial role as his team went all the way to the last 16 of the Europa League but fell to Lyon who were eventually eliminated by Manchester United in the quarter-final. The Bafana Bafana defender, who has played a total of 37 games for the club across all competitions this season, has explained why he feels Romania his the place to be.

‘I hope I’m giving enough inspiration to players in the PSL'

“I think playing in Romain taught me that we’re not here for ourselves, it’s about respecting the people who are going to come after me,” Ngezana said as quoted by FarPost.

“So I hope I’m giving enough inspiration to players in the PSL to look for opportunities in Romania and other European countries. As I said, I hope being here in Romania inspires players in South Africa to come also.

“There is so much talent in South Africa, and I know the players can make a big impact in this league. So I hope other players will have the courage to come here and express their talent, which will open more doors for many other players to play in Europe,” Ngezana concluded.

The center-back is expected to be part of the South Africa team that will play in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later in the year.
