‘Convincing Pirates will win Caf CL’ Ex-Bucs player adamant ‘MC Alger will NOT beat’ the Soweto giants

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Hleza Mofedi is confident his former team has what it takes to win this edition of the Caf Champions League.

The Buccaneers have been impressive in the ongoing edition and are close to making the last four of the prestigious continental competition. They beat MC Alger by a solitary goal in the quarter-final game played in Algeria on Tuesday.

Mamelodi Sundowns are the other team close to the semi-final after beating Esperance by a solitary goal in Mzansi. Both the Premier Soccer League teams have a chance of going all the way to winning the prestigious competition.

However, Mofedi believes it is the Soweto giants who currently look unstoppable as opposed to Masandawana.

“I was very nervous at the start of the game; they were pressuring us, and Pirates couldn't even make three passes. The only scoring chance I remember Pirates missing was one by Evidence Makgopa, but even that wasn't a clear-cut chance,” he opened up to SNL24.

“I watched MC Alger closely [on Tuesday], and I can say that the first half belonged to them. However, their substitutions failed to change the game in their favor. Pirates only started playing well in the second half, so I don't believe Alger can beat us at home. Coach Riviero had a perfect plan against Alger.

“The entire team impressed; we are going to win this cup. I can't believe we are on the path to this season's final. When I look at the other remaining teams, I can confidently say that we will reach the final and win the cup. We shouldn't change the way we played yesterday; Pirates' performance in the Champions League has been more convincing than that of Sundowns,” he concluded.
