DStv Diski Challenge: Kaizer Chiefs maintain top spot as Sundowns move to second

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs remain at the top of the DStv Diski Challenge table following their goalless draw with Stellenbosch FC on Sunday.

Chiefs were looking to secure back-to-back victories on matchday six but could not go past Stellies who proved a hard nut to crack at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Amakhois had beaten Magesi FC 1-0 in their previous match but found the going tough against Stellenbosch for a share of the spoils.

Sundowns hot on the heels of Chiefs

The Glamour Boys, who have won four matches and drawn one, occupy top spot on 13 points, just one ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns and two ahead of holders Stellenbosch.

Sundowns kept pace with Chiefs following their 1-0 victory against AmaZulu also at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.

Sundowns broke the deadlock at the stroke of halftime through Khumo Mokoele's individual brilliance and they held on until the final whistle for their fourth win of the season.

Orlando Pirates slipping down the table

Also playing on Sunday were Polokwane City, who thrashed Golden Arrows 3-1 for their first win of the season, leaving their opponents still looking for a victory in the PSL Reserve League this season.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates were pegged back on Saturday following a goalless draw with Magesi FC as Richards Bay thrashed Cape Town City 3-0.

Sekhukhune United recorded the biggest win of the weekend after thrashing Chippa United 5-1 as Marumo Gallants drew 2-2 with TS Galaxy.
