Ex-Chiefs captain on why Nabi should be kept

Published on by

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Patrick Mabedi has explained why the club must keep head coach Nasreddine Nabi for the next season.

The Tunisian tactician arrived at Amakhosi at the start of the campaign, tasked with the responsibility to turn things around.

While the coach's first season has seen difficulties in the league, a notable achievement is reaching the Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates on May 10th at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Mabedi warns that sacking the coach now would be detrimental, undoing the current progress and returning the team to its previous state.

‘THE RESULTS AREN’T GOOD BUT…’

“Yes, the results are not looking good the moment. And it's true, any team is judged by its results but from where I am standing, the team has improved under coach Nabi. Look at the chances they have been creating, though they can't convert,” Mabedi said, speaking exclusively to Soccer Laduma.

“If you change the coach now, things have to start all over again which won't be good. That's why I am saying Chiefs should keep Nabi. There is no need to fire him,” the former defender added.

“You know, as a coach Nabi can only do so much. The rest is up to the players to do their job on the field of play. The coach does his work at training and in the dressing room but in the field of play it's up to the players and I think they haven't been 100 percent perfect so far. They need to work on that and keep the coach
