Ex-goalkeeper believes ‘Sundowns have 80% chances’ of eliminating Al Ahly

Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper John Tlale believes his former team has a stronger chance of reaching the CAF Champions League final than their semi-final opponents, Al Ahly.

The Brazilians downed Esperance 1-0 on aggregate in the quarterfinal to secure a spot in the last four. This is their third time in a row, reaching the semi-finals.

Tlale argues that the Egyptian powerhouse is not as strong as in previous years, suggesting that

Masandawana can capitalize on this perceived decline.

‘AL AHLY IS NO LONGER THE SAME’

“I'm impressed with Sundowns, the boys played well. You know, when you play away, it's always going to be difficult,” noted Tlale as per KickOff.

“From now on, anything can happen since their next opponent, Al Ahly, is no longer the same team we used to fear. They are beatable.

“Going into the semi-final, Sundowns' chances of winning the tie are 80%.”

Meanwhile, Tlale stated that Miguel Cardoso should start with Iqraam Rayners who’s able to carry the team when Peter Shalulile is off in the game.

“It will be so much better if they start with Rayners in our next game against Al Ahly.

“Yes, (Arthur) Sales is not a bad player. He is improving, but all along, Rayners is the one who was carrying the team when Peter Shalulile was off-form.”
