Ex-Nigeria coach linked with Raja Casablanca after Sead Ramovic’s move fell through

A former Nigeria coach has emerged as the favourite for the Raja Casablanca job after Sead Ramovic’s move fell through.

Ramovic's switch to the North Africans seemed to be a done deal at the beginning of the week with TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirming his departure from the Mpumalanga-based side.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the 45-year-old coach returned to the team’s training on Wednesday as they prepare to face Augsburg Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup clash on Saturday.

Explaining why the move wasn’t successful, Ramovic said they couldn’t find each other in talks with the Moroccan giants.

“Nothing [is happening]. Until now, nothing has happened. We didn’t agree. We didn’t come to an agreement,” Ramovic told FARPost.

“I can only say I have principles, I have values, I respect myself. Until things are on the table that I believe is the thing to show me that this is not respecting, I will not move at all,” he said.

WHY SEAD RAMOVIC'S MOVE TO RAJA CASABLANCA FELL THROUGH?

Afrik-Foot understands Raja wanted Ramovic to come alone while he wanted to bring his backroom staff including his assistant coach Adnan Beganovic and goalkeeper coach Greg Etafia.

Now, moving swiftly to find the replacement of Josef Zinnbauer, Raja are now interested in appointing former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro as their next head coach according to Le360 Sport.

The Portuguese mentor has been unattached since parting ways with West African country after the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 64-year-old coach led Super Eagles to the final of the continental showpiece in Ivory Coast earlier this year but fell short with the hosts coming out victorious.

He was said to have been offered to Mamelodi Sundowns following the abrupt departure of Rulani Mokwena, however, the Brazilians are set to appoint Manqoba Mngqithi to take the helm.

Peseiro was also linked with Wydad Casablanca job before they went on to bring Mokwena on board.
