Tanzanian legend Mrisho Ngasa would like midfielder Feisal Slum to stay in the country amid links to Kaizer Chiefs in the January transfer window.
Salum is a man on demand going by reports that Chiefs have put him on their list of targets with Mamelodi Sundowns also credited with an interest.
There are also reports that Tanzania giants Simba, currently coached by South African Fadlu Davids, are weighing up the possibility of signing the attacking midfielder, who has scored four goals and provided nine assists for his club Azam FC this season, after netting 21 in 2023-24.

However, Ngasa, Tanzania’s second most capped player and the all-time top scorer with 25 goals, feels the Zanzibari midfielder is best staying in the local league now before considering a move later.
What has Chiefs target been told?
“It is the choice of the player, you cannot plan for him when it comes to going out of the country or staying,” Ngasa told Afrik-Foot after conducting the draw for the 2024 African Nations Championships in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday.
“But he should remain for now. We want him to stay in Tanzania because we have good competitions and he is in good form,” added the forward, who like Slum has played for Yanga, Azam as well as Simba.

Salum has 18 months remaining on his contract and Chiefs are hoping to lure him to South Africa to add creativity to Nasreddine Nabi’s team although Azam are hesitant to let him go and have reportedly tabled a bumper contract in a bid to wade off the interest from the PSL giants.
Soka25east reported last week that Azam have tabled a new contract to Salum that includes a signing-on fee of $320,000 (R6.6 million) and a monthly salary of $12,000 (R223,315) to convince him to extend his stay with the Dar es Salaam-based side.
