The Premier Soccer League will have four teams that will represent the country in the international fixtures.
Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch, and Sekhukhune United will get a massive boost from Caf after qualifying for the annual continental competitions.
Masandawana and the Buccaneers will be playing in the Caf Champions League, while the remaining two will take part in the Caf Confederation Cup.
The Sea Robbers and Sekhukhune start their 2024/25 campaign in the first preliminary round, while the rest will pick it up in the second one.
Who will Bucs & Stellenbosch play?
Pirates grabbed their Caf Champions League ticket after finishing second in the Premier Soccer League, behind champions Sundowns.
Stellies, who were beaten to the second position by goal difference, start their campaign on Saturday against Eswatini outfit Nsingizini Hotspurs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban; in the first leg.
The Soweto Giants are scheduled to take center stage a day later against Madagascar outfit CS-Disciples at the National Sports Complex in Saint Pierre, with the second leg scheduled for a week later.
How much will teams receive?
Some teams have been pulling out of the competition in the initial stages owing to financial problems, explaining why Caf opted to act.
“In line with the Caf President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s promise to improve club competitions and provide more financial assistance to clubs, the [teams] participating in the Preliminary Stages of the Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup will receive USD 50000 (R900,0000) each,” the organisers confirmed on their official website.
The Caf Champions League winner will bag R72 million with the finalist getting half the amount. The semi-finalists will be rewarded R21 million while the quarter-finalists will go home with R16 million. The remaining two teams in the group will each receive R13 million.
The Caf Confederation Cup champions will be rewarded R36 million while the runner-up will get half that amount. Semi-finalists will be guaranteed R13 million with quarter-finalists receiving R10 million. The two bottom teams in the group will get R7 million each.
