‘Football doesn’t have to be pretty, Pirates score & defend! VAR doing its job well; teams used to rob us’

Orlando Pirates‘ Caf Champions League journey continues on Friday when they play Pyramids in the second leg of the semi-final that will be staged at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.

The first leg between the sides, which was staged at the Orlando Stadium, ended goalless, meaning either team has a chance of making the final, where they will play either Mamelodi Sundowns or defending champions Al Ahly.

Have a look at what the fans said ahead of the highly anticipated fixture game.

Pirates need something new

Riveiro saw Pyramids' strengths and weaknesses. I hear a lot of people saying Pirates will lose away, but Pyramids must be careful because Riveiro can come with a plan no one thought of. He always does that in cup games –  Sivenkosi Vesta Hanana

This defense play is working a bit, but they exposed us, and VAR came through. We need something new with the same play –  Akhona Oblivion

We remain unbeaten, and that’s exactly what we are going to maintain; we are winning this Caf Champions League – Mashoto Dudu ChelseaHun

I can't sleep every time I think about that gema, it's like my mind is racing with all the what-ifs and maybes. Anyway, good luck to my favourite team –  Mphoyamodimo Selebalo Sefaloana

Let's go, boys, we're going to the final! We've got this. We've been working so hard for this moment, and I know we can make it happen – M Kay Gee Habanthate

Football doesn't have to be pretty

That formation and starting 11 that won us 2-1 against Mamelodi Sundowns can win us Saturday's game – Emmanuelle Mudzimu Unarine Mugudubi

VAR is doing its job very well. All the African clubs used to rob us by scoring goals with their hands, even when they were offside, given penalties that were never supposed to be, diving in every chance to get penalties. Gone are those days  – Nomsa Moyane

We score first they’ll need to score two goals to beat us. The football doesn’t have to be pretty, just score and defend, then we are straight into the finals – Mahlako Sekhukhune

If I were an Orlando Pirates player, I was gonna give my all, die in the field if I have to. Winning CAF can really boost your profile as a player, giving you the best recognition to big clubs if u dreaming of playing in Europe one day. And it would be nice to retire from football knowing you are the reason why the Orlando Pirates badge changed to two stars, something that can never be forgotten. So all I'm saying is that the boys must go and fight and leave a legacy – SleptOn Da Şupreme

Their pitch will be in great condition; that's one thing I love about North African teams, they take good care of their ground. My point is we all know Pirates love playing in such conditions,  slick football – Siza Calvin
