The ex-Amakhosi player has shared how the former Mamelodi Sundowns star can benefit the Glamour Boys
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has urged the club to sign more quality players if they are to benefit from new recruit Gaston Sirino.
Sirino completed a move to Chiefs last week, penning a two-year deal at Naturena and is set to add creativity to Nasreddine Nabi’s side.
Khanye has lauded the signing of Sirino, which he also feels was a statement from the Glamour Boys to silence their fans, and now wants them to get in younger players of similar quality to bring the best out of him.
‘For Sirino to function well, someone has to pass him the ball’
“Credit to them for getting Sirino,” Khanye told iDiski TV.
“But they must also look at the surroundings because for Sirino to function well, someone has to pass him the ball. You need to supply him. If he doesn’t do the supplying, he needs someone to do it, just like his partnership with Khama [Billiat].
“I’m very excited about Sirino joining Kaizer Chiefs. I think he is the best signing and I don’t even care about his age. He can always get his confidence back. He is quality.
‘The club signed him to shut the fans up’
“But I think the club signed him to shut the fans up. Yes, they did a great job but now, sign five more players of Sirino’s quality and balance the age. Sign attackers that are more or less like that guy.”
The 33-year-old spent six years at Memelodi Sundowns, winning as many PSL titles, but was deemed surplus to requirements when his contract came to an end at the conclusion of last season.
Sirino made 202 appearances for Sundowns, scoring 41 goals while providing 44 assists, and Nabi will be hoping for more during his stint at Naturena.
