Free Agents ready to shock Chiefs: Amakhosi have a history of losing against  minnows’

Free Agents FC midfielder Thulani Dhladhla believes the third-tier outfit can shock South Africa by eliminating Kaizer Chiefs from the Nedbank Cup.

The two teams are set to meet on Sunday at the FNB Stadium in the Round of 32 of the annual competition.

This is a massive chance for the Glamour Boys who have been lacking consistency in the Premier Soccer League. After failing to qualify for this season's MTN8, Amakhosi failed to stage a serious fight for the Carling Knockout. Chiefs were undone in the quarter-final by Mamelodi Sundowns.

In the previous campaign, Amakhosi were undone by second-tier side Milford FC. Dhladhla believes his team can emulate that by knocking out the Nasreddine Nabi-led outfit.

‘Free Agents are excited to play Chiefs'

“I would say my teammates are excited [to play against Chiefs], personally I’m excited because I think it’s everyone’s dream to play against Chiefs or Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns,” he said ahead of this weekend's game.

“So I think they’re feeling the way that I’m feeling, they are really looking forward to this match and they are starting to prepare for it.

“I think the fixture favours us because if they’re a team that has a history of losing against lower-division clubs, it means we have a good chance of winning against them.”

Kaizer Chiefs have gone for a decade without any major silverware. It will be a shame if they fail to end their hunger for success in the ongoing campaign by giving their best to win the Nedbank Cup.
