Pitso Mosimane's nine-match unbeaten run with Esteghlal, across all competitions, came to a shocking end on Monday evening with a 1-0 loss against relegation-threatened Shams Azar Qazvin.
The Capital Blues needed maximum points at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran to get into the top half of the Gulf Pro League table. However, the visitors were determined to get a positive result that would have helped him off the danger zone.
The lone strike of the game was scored by Amir Cheshme Khosravi with half an hour to go, putting Shams Azar Qazvin 14th on the table with 16 points. However, they can still get into the danger zone if they beat fourth-placed Foolad.
The Monday result means Mosimane has won three games, managed six draws and registered four losses.
Mosimane makes his wishes public
Meanwhile, Jingles – who has not been paid, hopes he can get the quality players who can help him achieve his target.
“I met all the big bosses and I have constant meetings with them. I also met the CEO because it's time for transfers. We cannot stay away. I've given the list of players that I think should come,” he started.
“I did not give the list now and it hasn't changed since I submitted it. I've done my part, I've given the names, and the CEO says he will support me with the process. I am positive and I believe they will support me because it's not for me, it's for Esteghlal.
“I am waiting, let's see. I've done a list of where we are short, where we have players, and where we can strengthen the team. I did my job and I gave my list to the past CEO three months ago and it has never changed.”
The next game for the 11th-placed Esteghlal FC will be against Malavan on Saturday 25.
