The SuperSport United coach has not hidden his desire to sign the experienced forward
SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has admitted that striker Samir Nurkovic is among players his club is considering bringing in before the transfer window shuts on Friday.
Nurkovic recently parted ways with TS Galaxy and he is a free agent which makes it easy for SuperSport and any other interested club to strike a deal.
With Matsatsantsa struggling upfront, owing to Bradley Grobler’s injury, Hunt has confirmed his interest in the Serbian forward who left Galaxy in unclear circumstances.
Why does Hunt want Nurkovic at SuperSport?
“The window closes tomorrow [Friday], we obviously need to get one or two in, but it’s pending, hopefully we can do business between now and tomorrow,” Hunt said on Thursday.
“[Nurkovic] suits our style? Okay… does he? Okay… that’s what that club there [Sundowns] buys all our players, if we play the wrong style why do they buy all our players?
“Uhm, he’s an option, a good option for us obviously if we can, he’s become available but I’m not the bean counter, so it works differently. It is a hurry because we have a game on Saturday and we’re struggling up front, playing midfielders there, so it’s a problem for us.”

The Serbian attacker is looking for regular football
The striker is also keen for regular football which will likely be on offer at SuperSport if a deal was to be struck and he will be bringing goals and experience to Hunt’s side.
He managed 10 goals for Galaxy largely from the bench last season and he could produce more if he plays regularly.
SuperSport have also been credited with an interest in Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa, who had a brief loan spell at the club in 2023.
