Kaizer Chiefs’ inconsistent season was on full display once again when they lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday.
Chiefs, who were coming from their morale-boosting 2-1 win over Stellenbosch, hoped to make it back-to-back victories but Golden Arrows had other ideas.
The lone goal was scored in the 56th minute by Gladwin Shitolo, who capitalised on some questionable goalkeeping from Bruce Bvuma.
Nabi’s changes did not yield much

Bvuma made a save from Sbonelo Cele’s cross but punched the ball in the path of Shitolo who hammered in the roof of the net what turned out to be the only goal.
Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi had made two changes from the squad that beat Stellies Mfundo Vilakazi and Tebogo Potsane coming in for Ashley Du Preez and Rushwin Dortley while Arrows retained the same starting XI that played against AmaZulu FC.
Arrows looked to play on the counter as Chiefs pushed numbers forward, especially Potsane and Wandile Duba on a slippery pitch owing to the rains in Durban.
Arrows leapfrog Chiefs on the log
Miguel Inacio came close for Chiefs when he had his 31st minute attempt saved after connecting well with Sibongiseni Mthethwa’s cross while Mduduzi Shabalala was also thwarted before halftime.
After the break, both teams upped the internist of the game in a bid to find the goal and it fell to the visitors when Bvuma, who had kept out Siyanda Mthanti’s freekick in the first half, failed to catch Cele’s cross, the ball falling to Shitolo to break the deadlock.
Nabi responded by bringing on Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Pule Mmodi for Yusuf Maart and Vilakazi but it did not yield much as Arrows held on for maximum points which lifted them to fifth position on the log on 18 points, same as Chiefs but with a superior goal difference.
